Earl Shilton and Barwell
The Earl Shilton and Barwell neighbourhood beat is mainly residential with some industrial areas. Both towns include a shopping area that is well used by the community.
Local beat officers have set up many initiatives directed at crime prevention and detection. The officers are keen to develop links within the community and so will be holding regular police surgeries to identify and tackle specific problems that affect the beat.

Sgt Phil Burrows (251)
"I have over 23 years service with Leicestershire Constabulary serving at a number of stations force wide in various roles. For the last seven years I have been a sergeant, principally in the city centre stations, before moving to Hinckley in early 2007.
"In January 2008 I was assigned the role of beat sergeant for the Earl Shilton and Barwell neighbourhood. My responsibilities are towards the local community as well as supervision of the beat team.
"The main targets assigned to the team are to target anti-social behaviour matters and police responses to all incidents that occur on the beat.
"I would encourage residents to make contact with me over any issues that can improve neighbourhood policing and together with a multi-agency approach, provide a service to the community and improve public confidence and perceptions of those issues." -
PC Adrian McCaffrey (1909)
I was assigned to the Earl Shilton and Barwell neighbourhood beat three and a half years ago and I am proud to work within a community that is so welcoming and has so much public spirit and pride.
By working together the community and relevant local agencies are continually moving forward and there has been improvements for the quality of life and facilities for the residents can enjoy. -
PC Gary Fagg (937)
I joined the police service in June 1994. Initially I joined the Metropolitan Police in London. Whilst in London I served at a very busy South London BCU. In Sept 1997 I transferred to Leicestershire Constabulary and was posted at Beaumont Leys.
After serving there for several years I moved to Braunstone Police Station and following that moved to Hinckley.
Since being at Hinckley I have been the beat officer for Barwell. Since the outset of neighbourhood policing Barwell and Earl Shilton have amalgamated and I have been the beat manager since.
I find it extremely rewarding policing Barwell and Earl Shilton and think it's important for the community to have some stability as far as the police officers that serve it are concerned and hope to continue the good work that’s been done in the time I have had the privilege to serve those communities. -
PC Julie Sperry (4547)
"I have worked at Hinckley for the past two years and I have recently joined the Earl Shilton and Barwell neighbourhood team.
"I am pleased to be working directly with these two villages and am looking forward to integrating and providing a service for the local community." -
PC Lindsey O'Nion (4456)
Since joining the neighbourhood team of Earl Shilton and Barwell in April I have enjoyed working with all aspects of the communities in the two villages.
My main aim over the coming months is to improve communication between the police and residents, allowing us to be guided by the concerns of Earl Shilton and Barwell residents.
I am particularly excited about the monthly e-newsletter which I started in June as this means residents receive a regular update on policing activities in their area. -
PCSO Hayleigh Thompson (6003)
Hello my name is Hayleigh Thompson and I am a police community support officer for Earl Shilton and Barwell. I have been a PCSO in this community for one year now and it is a great place to work.
"It is a very friendly and community-spirited area. We have had lots of support from the local community for all our good work so far which include beat initiatives for improving the area.
"There has been a definite improvement in the area in regards to reducing crime and creating relationships between the local community and the police. I hope to continue working in this area for the foreseeable future and continue to further improve the area with a very strong and dedicated beat team." -
PCSO Jon Puckey (6071)
"I joined Leicestershire Constabulary as a PCSO in March 2007. I work closely with my beat officers and external agencies to help reduce anti-social behaviour and to deal with local problems.
"My daily tasks include interacting with the community, building relationships with local companies and conducting high visibility patrols." -
PCSO Tiffany Row (6619)
"I have been working for Leicestershire Constabulary for three years and have seen many changes introduced that have created a more pleasant place to work and allow us to help the public in a more efficient way.
"Our team is working together to help and care for those who have been affected by crime or are just in need of a helping hand. We are available more than ever before and have set up Shop Watch and Neighbourhood Watch schemes across Barwell and Earl Shilton.
"We also have a weekly information sharing meeting at your local police station which enables the council, enviromental workers and police to be better informed."
